Meet the Principal

Dr. Rory R. Morse

I am a 2005 graduate of the University of Alaska Anchorage.  I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education. I am nationally certified through the state of Alaska by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE).  I am a member of Kappa Delta Pi, an International Honor Society in Education, as well as the Golden Key International Honor Society.  In May of 2008, I completed a Masters in Educational Administration degree program from Grand Canyon University.  In August of 2016 I earned a Doctor of Education in Education Technology and eLearning from Northcentral University.

I am married with four children and six grandchildren.  Our youngest attends school in the MSBSD and three have graduated from the MSBSD.  We have lived in Alaska since 1997 and have lived in Wasilla since 2001.  My family likes to travel around the state and beyond and see all of the beautiful sights and natural wonders there are to be discovered.  I have worked in the MSBSD for 18 years and am in my 13th year at Cottonwood Creek Elementary.  I have taught two courses in Early Childhood Development at Mat-Su College.
I am also an Adjunct Professor of Graduate Education at Liberty University.  I teach a wide range of technology-related courses as well as supervise student teachers. I hope to use what I have learned from this program to bring more valuable information to implement school-wide.

To me, being an educator is more than a career.  I see what we are doing as a unique opportunity to reach out to our youth and be a positive role model and influence on them.  It is very important for me that students at our school grow both academically and socially.  They are the future leaders of our community.  Together, we can make their education the single most important gift that your child will ever receive.  I have volunteered extensively in the local community through my local church youth group as well as state-wide through soccer.
